Course Name: CIT 2231 – Computer Analysis
Credit and Contact Hours: 3 Credit Hours
Prerequisites: CIT 1131

Textbook (required) A+ Guide to Hardware. Third Edition, by Jean Andrews

Course Technology; ISBN: 0-619-21300-0


Course Description: Operational characteristics and applications of personal computers. Emphasis on computer power supplies, memories, disk drives and internal support circuitry. An introduction to operating systems is included.

Course Objectives:


  1. Expose students to hardware troubleshooting procedures.

  2. Demonstrate the proper safety procedures used when working on computers.

  3. Cover the specific areas as outlined in the CompTia Core competency exam.

  4. Introduce advanced troubleshooting techniques.


Course Requirements:

Attendance Policy Class attendance and participation are essential if students are to receive maximum benefit from this class. Students are expected to complete assignments by the due dates, handed in assignments are to be typed, or clearly printed. If you are unable to attend class please notify me by e-mail as soon as possible. 10 points for each class absence, 5 points for late coming will be taking off from your attandance points.



Make-up Policy: Please be in the classroom for the exams. If you are not able to take the exam, notify me as soon as possible, so I can arrange your exam for other time.

General Note: In order to achieve the course objectives, it is essential that you enjoy the class in addition to complying with the above requirements and the rules and policies of College of Du Page contained in the catalog and other college materials. Required materials: Students are required to furnish two 3 ½” floppy disks for lab work.
